Russian Central Election Commission: Putin refuses to participate in election debates

The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Russia received a refusal from presidential candidate Vladimir Putin to participate in joint campaign events, Natalya Budarina, secretary of the election commission, said at a CEC meeting, Report informs via Russian media.

“The Central Election Commission of Russia received a document confirming the refusal of the candidate for the post of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin to participate in joint campaign events on the channels of all-Russian state television and radio broadcasting organizations,” Budarina stated.

The Russian presidential elections will be held from March 15 to 17.

On January 29, the Central Election Commission registered Vladimir Putin as a candidate in the elections.
