Media: Armenia supports Russian aggression against Ukraine by supplying it with sanctioned goods

Armenia is the main economic partner of Russian aggression against Ukraine, supplying sanctioned goods to Russia, Report informs referring to the Ukrainian media.

Armenia imported more washing machines from the European Union during the first eight months of the year than the past two years combined, according to data compiled by Bloomberg from the EU’s Eurostat database, according to a Bloomberg research.

Officials in Europe have already said publicly they have seen parts from refrigerators and washing machines showing up in Russian military equipment such as tanks since its invasion of Ukraine. Yerevan also supplies the Russians with microcircuits necessary for military equipment.

The US Treasury paid special attention to the Russian company JSC PKK Milandr, which specializes in the development and production of microcircuits. "Milur Electronics LLC (Milur Electronics), a subsidiary of Milandr based in Armenia, was established for the purpose of placing orders with foreign factories, manufacturing integrated circuits and selling overseas. Milur Electronics was used as a front company for Milandr to do business with foreign partners".

Another Armenian company, Taco LLC, is included in the sanctions list due to its close interaction with Russian radio automatics. In circumvention of the sanctions, it specializes in the purchase of foreign equipment for the Russian military industry. According to OFAC, Radioavtomatika pays Taco to import components and organize the procurement process in Armenia.

Partnership with the aggressor also compensates for civilian needs, Ukrainian media report. Deliveries of smartphones and Western-made cars are no less successful than purchases of Iranian kamikaze drones or cruise missiles for Russians.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin stated that the trade between Armenia and Russia increased by 42%. The trade turnover between the countries has grown disproportionately over the past year.

In general, the data of the Berlin Center for the South Caucasus, based on the official statistics of Armenia, indicate that exports from the EU to Armenia in 2021 amounted to €753 million, and in 2022 already €1.3 billion. At the same time, exports from Armenia to Russia in 2021 amounted to $840 million, and in 2022 they grew to $2.4 billion.
