Lithuania transfers M-577 armored personnel carriers to Ukraine

Vilnius has handed over a batch of M-577 armored personnel carriers to Kyiv, according to the Ministry of Defense of the Baltic Republic, Report informs referring to TASS.

“Helping Ukraine is our strategic goal. The weapons and equipment transferred by us and our allies critically meet the military needs of Ukraine,” Defense Minister Laurynas Kasciunas said. The number of targeted equipment is not specified.

The minister reminded that in March, Lithuania transferred 155 mm caliber shells to Kyiv, and also allocated 35 million euros as part of the Czech Republic’s initiative to provide the Ukrainian army with ammunition.

Vilnius has developed a plan to provide military support to Ukraine, according to which from 2024 to 2026 it will amount to at least 200 million euros. Since the beginning of hostilities, Lithuania has provided military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 605 million euros.
