Iran earthquake death toll rises to 1,167

The death toll in the earthquake that hit Iran’s northwestern province of West Azerbaijan on January 28 rose to 1,167, according to the governor of the province Mohammad Sadeq Motamadian, Report informs referring to ISNA.
Earlier it was reported about 1,075 victims.
“To date, 1,167 people have been affected by the earthquake near the city of Khoy,” he said.
On January 28 evening, a powerful earthquake of magnitude 5.9 occurred in the Iranian province of Western Azerbaijan, near the city of Khoy. After the incident, more than 25 aftershocks were also recorded, the most powerful of them was a magnitude of 4.5 points.
