Hungary, Armenia to reopen embassies in Yerevan and Budapest

Armenia and Hungary have agreed to open embassies in Yerevan and Budapest in the near future, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Peter Szijjártó, said following the negotiations with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan, Report informs referring to Armenian media.

“This will be another important step in the process of improving relations between the two countries,” he noted.

He reminded that Hungary and Armenia restored diplomatic relations in December 2022 after a ten-year break.

“Last time we talked about opening consular missions, but given the atmosphere and results of joint work over the past year and a half, we see that the progress achieved must be matched by the highest level of diplomatic relations,” Szijjarto said.

Mirzoyan is in Hungary on an official visit.
