Georgia, UK discuss bilateral ties and regional security

Nikoloz Samkharadze, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Georgian Parliament, met with Mark Clayton, deputy director for Central Asia and Eastern Neighbourhood at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Report's Georgian bureau informs.

The Georgian Parliament announced that the meeting discussed bilateral relations between Georgia and the United Kingdom, interparliamentary cooperation and prospects for further expanding the partnership.

Samkharadze emphasized the importance of continued international support for the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The sides also discussed regional security issues. During the conversation, they exchanged views on the ongoing war in Ukraine, the current situation in the South Caucasus and geopolitical processes in the region.

The meeting also addressed the Middle Corridor project and noted its strategic importance for developing connectivity between Europe and Central Asia.

UK Ambassador to Georgia Gareth Ward also attended the meeting.
