Armenia should focus its efforts on increasing the number of vaccinated people, rather than controlling restrictive measures, said Arsen Torosyan, MP from the Civil Contract faction and former Health Minister of Armenia,
The number of COVID-19 jabs administered in Armenia as of February 7 made 1,925,556, with only 858,981 citizens fully vaccinated.
Torosyan believes that vaccination is not considered a priority in Armenian society. Many citizens view it as something of secondary importance and try their best to avoid it. Therefore, everything must be done to make people aware of the importance of getting a COVID vaccine.
The MP stressed that the level of vaccination is only 29%. This is a low figure, and in such conditions, there is no need to talk about the lifting of restrictions. Torosyan considers it necessary to increase the vaccination level to at least 80-90%. Only in this case will Armenians be able to return to pre-Covid life, he said.
Armenia started mass vaccination against coronavirus on March 31, 2021.
