Hopefully, lasting peace will soon be achieved between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which Türkiye supports with all its heart. The opening of the Zangazur Corridor is the final step of this agreement, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told journalists upon his return from Washington, where he took part in the North Atlantic Alliance summit on July 9-11, Report informs referring to Anadolu Agency.
Answering a journalist’s question “can Türkiye's border with Armenia be opened after the signing of a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan?”, Erdogan said: "Why not consider this issue [of opening the border]? Previously, we have already told [Armenian Prime Minister Nikol] Pashinyan everything about this. Now we need to do everything for peace. We hope that soon between Azerbaijan and Armenia lasting peace will be achieved, which Türkiye wholeheartedly supports. The opening of the Zangazur Corridor is the final step of this agreement.
We want positive decisions along this path to be made without delay. There are now positive signals coming from the region, and we hope that they will ultimately bring good news,” the Turkish leader noted.
