16 people blocked in hotel in Georgia due to landslide

A landslide hit the Georgian mountain resort of Shovi (Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti regions), blocking 16 people, including six children, in the Sunset Shovi Hotel, Report informs referring to the Georgian media.

Rescuers are on the scene. Representatives of local authorities are sent to Shovi, the governor of the region, Papuna Margvelidze, said.

“We would like to inform the public that all relevant departments have been informed about the incident, the relevant equipment has been mobilized on the ground,” the Interior Ministry said in a statement.

Rescuers of the Emergency Management Service and representatives of other police units are sent to the scene by a helicopter of the Border Police of the Ministry of the Interior.
