WHO worried about effectiveness of COVID vaccines

The effectiveness of vaccines against new strains of coronavirus is worrying, Hans Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe, said in an interview with Agence France-Presse, Report informs, referring to TASS.

"This is a big question that raises concerns," said Kluge.

He also added that other, more problematic mutations of the coronavirus might appear.

He said Europe should work together to accelerate the vaccination campaign.

"We need to unite to speed up the process. Pharmaceutical companies, which usually compete, must jointly increase their production capacity. This is what we need now," Kluge emphasized.

At its meeting on January 14, the WHO Emergency Committee called on countries to expand scientific research on the genomic sequence of mutating pathogens of the COVID and share available information with other states.
