WHO admits: COVID might have originated outside China

Experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) in the report being prepared for publication won’t rule out the possibility that the source of the spread of the novel coronavirus could be outside of China, Report informs referring to The Wall Street Journal.

The journalists got acquainted with the report prepared by experts who were engaged in clarifying the circumstances of the origin of the coronavirus in China in January-February. The document has not yet been published. Experts do not give a definitive answer to the question of when, where and how the virus began to spread.

"The report admits the possibility that the virus appeared outside China, and then entered the country. This hypothesis was put forward by the Chinese authorities, the US and the governments of other Western countries opposed it," the article says.

WHO experts also recommend a more thorough study of data from hospitals in China and blood samples obtained before December 2019.

In addition, experts believe that it is necessary to conduct checks on Chinese farms where animals are raised. It is speculated that this could help figure out how the virus was transmitted to humans.
