US urges not to recognize legitimacy of 2021 Syrian polls

The United States does not consider the upcoming presidential elections in Syria legitimate and calls on the international community to join this position.
The Permanent Representative of the United States to the world Organization, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said at the UN Security Council meeting, Report informs, citing TASS.
"I urge the international community not to be deceived by the upcoming presidential elections in Syria. They will be neither fair nor free, " she said. "They do not legitimize the Assad regime and do not comply with the requirements of resolution 2,254, including concerning holding them under the auspices of the UN and the new constitution."
