The United States has confirmed 31,012 thousand new COVID-19 cases within the past 24 hours, Report says, citing Johns Hopkins University.
A day earlier, the figure reached 24,760 thousand. Over the past day, 425 more fell victim to the virus, while the number was 250 the day before.
On December 31, 2019, Chinese authorities announced an outbreak of pneumonia in China's Wuhan, and the causative agent is a new type of coronavirus officially named COVID-19.
On March 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of a new coronavirus a pandemic.
More than 2.3 million people have contracted coronavirus in the US so far, resulting in 120 thousand deaths, while the number of recoveries exceeds 640 thousand.
