US coronavirus: Number of positive cases nears 2.5 mln

Over 50,000 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus infection in 50 US states over the past 24 hours. Report informs citing the Johns Hopkins University. Besides, 629 people died from the virus per day. The number of infections in the US is approaching 2.5 million, and the number of deaths has exceeded 125 thousand.
The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China’s Hubei province, and the virus has spread to more than 200 countries and territories since then.
On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
