Unknown persons try to set fire to Warsaw synagogue

Unidentified people tried to set fire to a synagogue in the center of Warsaw; there were no casualties as a result of the incident, the Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said, Report informs via TASS.

“Rabbi Schudrich (Chief Rabbi of Poland Michael Schudrich - ed.) writes that someone tried to set fire to the Nozhikov synagogue using a Molotov cocktail. Thank God, no one was hurt,” the minister said in a post on X.

Polish media note that the capital police have been informed about the incident and are already investigating it.

The synagogue named after the spouses Zalman and Rivka Nozhik (Nozhik Synagogue), which is the main synagogue of the Union of Jewish Communities of Poland, is the only one that survived the Second World War in Warsaw. In 1997, it was already set on fire, and the building's lobby was damaged.
