UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Central Asia have called for restraint and dialogue in Kazakhstan.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday in New York, the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric, said the Organization continues to follow the situation “very closely.”
He said it is crucial to stop violence and hold peaceful demonstrations, adding that killing police officers and other people is unacceptable, the same as killing protesters.
Human rights and international standards should be observed in restoring public order in any situation, he said.
