Ukrainian leader urges EU to complete embargo on Russian oil & gas

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed his confidence in the introduction of an oil embargo against Russia and is waiting for this decision in the next sanctions package.

The president told reporters in Kyiv after meeting with President of the European Council Charles Michel, Report informs citing Ukrainian media.

"We are calling on the EU for a complete energy embargo on oil and gas. Oil should definitely be included in the sixth sanctions package, without it, it will not be powerful, but empty," the president said.

"It seems to me that the EU countries are ready to impose an embargo," he said, adding as an example the successful imposition of a ban on the export of the Russian coal.

"We have managed to introduce a coal embargo, but at the insistence of Germany, it was postponed for four months. I think that under the pressure of all other EU states, the embargo will be introduced," Zelensky said.
