UK may slap new sanctions on Russia this week

The UK government is planning to impose more sanctions on Russia this week, Interfax reports, citing Bloomberg, Report informs.

The new measures are likely to affect Russian military and defense companies, as well as more businessmen and their partners, the agency said, citing its source.

London is also considering raising duties on some Russian goods. In addition, the source notes, in the coming weeks, the UK may introduce sanctions against "individuals and structures that spread disinformation".

Earlier, the UK imposed a wide range of sanctions against Russia. At the moment, more than 1,300 individuals and legal entities are on the British sanctions list for Russia.

Now the EU is working on the sixth package of sanctions. In particular, the possibility of introducing restrictions on the import of Russian oil, as well as disconnecting a larger number of Russian banks from the SWIFT payment system, is being discussed.
