Türkiye plans to add 20,000 MW to its nuclear capacity by 2050

Türkiye needs 20,000 MW of nuclear power by 2050, the country’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said, Report informs.
“We have directed all efforts to install 12 large nuclear reactors in Akkuyu, Sinop and Thrace,” he told TRT TV channel.
The minister also noted that Türkiye plans to add another 5,000 MW of nuclear power to its own “nuclear energy basket” through small modular reactors: “For this purpose, we continue the search for options for cooperation.”
