Truck rams into Tel Aviv bus stop, wounding dozens in suspected terror attack

At least 35 people have been injured, after a truck rammed into a bus stop near the Israeli city Tel Aviv. Six of the wounded are in serious condition, according to Eli Bin, director of Israel's Magen David Adom (MDA) rescue service, Report informs via Euronews.

He added that MDA has taken those who were wounded to nearby hospitals.

Asi Aharoni, an Israeli police spokesperson, told Israeli public broadcaster Kan that the “attacker was neutralised,” indicating police were suspecting a terror attack. It wasn’t clear whether the suspect was stopped or killed.

Aharoni said a truck had slammed into a bus and individuals waiting at the stop. According to local media, many of the victims were senior citizens who were disembarking from a bus.

The attack occurred at Glilot Junction, in an area near the headquarters of Israel's Mossad spy agency, as well as several IDF intelligence units.

MDA released footage of the large truck with a mostly empty bed that appeared to have slammed into a bus. In addition to being near the Mossad headquarters, the bus stop is also close to a central highway junction, and the incident came as Israelis were returning to work after a weeklong holiday.

Tensions have soared since the outbreak of the war in Gaza, as Israel has carried out regular military raids into the occupied West Bank that have left hundreds dead. Most appear to have been militants killed during shootouts with Israeli forces, but Palestinians taking part in protests and civilian bystanders have also been killed.
