NATO's total defense spending up $270B in 2021

“The total defense spending of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) increased by $270 billion in 2021. Compared to the previous year, this is a 3.1% increase,” NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said on Thursday, presenting his annual security report for last year in Brussels.

“2021 was the seventh year in which NATO defense spending rose consistently,” Stoltenberg said.
