Swedish Embassy in Beirut attacked with Molotov cocktail

Unknown perpetrators threw a Molotov cocktail-like bomb at the main entrance of the Swedish embassy in Beirut without exploding last night, Report informs, citing police sources.

"Our bomb experts removed it from the scene, and we are working hard to find the perpetrators," the sources said.

Police speculate that the failed attack may have something to do with the Koran burning in Sweden.

The Swedish Foreign Ministry, in turn, said that the embassy staff is safe, and the department itself is in constant contact with them.

Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström said the government is taking the incident seriously. He stressed that in recent weeks, the country's government has taken measures to strengthen security in the embassies of the countries.

Earlier it was reported that the Stockholm police allowed to hold a rally on August 14, during which it is planned to burn the Koran.
