The Falcon 9 rocket successfully launched a batch of 21 mini-satellites into orbit on December 31 to replenish the orbital constellation of the Starlink global internet coverage system, according to posts by SpaceX on social media, Report informs.
"Deployment of 21 Starlink satellites confirmed," reads the message.
The rocket launch was carried out from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, Florida at 00:39 Eastern Time.
About an hour later, the satellites separated from the second stage of the carrier and entered orbit.
During the launch, the rocket's first reusable stage, which was used for the 16th time, made a controlled vertical landing on the drone ship "Just Read the Instructions" in the Atlantic Ocean after separation.
