Russian helicopter violates Estonian airspace, MFA summons Russian Ambassador

A Russian Mi-8 border patrol helicopter violated the airspace in the Koidula region of southeastern Estonia for approximately 2 minutes on the evening of June 18, Report informs, citing the Press Service of the Estonian Ministry of Defense.
According to the information, the helicopter flew without the submitted flight plan and with the transponder (communication device) switched off. The Russian pilots did not establish two-way radio communication with Estonian air traffic control.
In response, Russia's Ambassador to Estonia was summoned by the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and handed a note. This is the second violation of Estonian airspace in 2022.
Last year, Russian planes violated the Estonian border five times.
