Rubio names strengthening sanctions against Russia as one of options available to US

The US administration is considering the introduction of new sanctions against Russia as one of the possible options, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said after talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Kuala Lumpur, Report informs via Bloomberg.

Strengthening sanctions against Russia is an available option, he noted.

Rubio added that he discussed with Lavrov a new approach to the settlement in Ukraine and will tell President Donald Trump about it.

He noted that Trump is disappointed with the lack of flexibility on the part of the Russian Federation in the issue of ending the Ukrainian conflict. However, the United States intends to continue the dialogue to achieve a settlement, he added.

The secretary of state also noted that the United States wants to see a roadmap for settling the Ukrainian conflict.
