Italy will take measures to reduce natural gas consumption, saving about 5.3 billion cubic meters of fuel, Il Messaggero newspaper said in an article, citing the regulation of the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Report informs.
The special plan for reducing energy consumption in Italy included: the decrease in the use of heating installations, the use of electric heat pumps in the winter heating season, preferring the low energy consumption function of refrigerators, the ban on the use of the standby mode in the TV and other measures.
Estimates of the impact of all measures lead to savings of about 5.3 billion cubic meters of gas, taking into account the maximization of electricity production from fuel other than gas (about 2.1 billion cubic meters), and the savings associated with the reduction of heating (3.2 billion cubic meters).
The document is designed to ensure fuel reserves, which at the European level "allow preparing for possible termination of gas supplies from Russia." Similar saving measures lead to a decrease in temperature by 1°C when heating buildings.
