Italian FM may visit Moscow, Kyiv this week

Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio may visit Moscow and Kyiv this week over the situation around Ukraine, Report informs with reference to the Italian newspaper La Stampa.

According to the Corriere della Sera, up to 2,000 Italian troops could travel to Bulgaria if a decision is made at a meeting of NATO defense ministers on February 16-17 to strengthen the alliance's presence in Eastern Europe.

Earlier, the Italian Foreign Ministry advised all Italians to leave Ukraine and refrain from visiting the country. Recently, statements have been made in the West, as well as in Kyiv, about a possible Russian invasion of Ukraine. Although Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov considers such information unfounded, Russia continues to amass its troops along the border with Ukraine.
