European Commission to extend use of COVID certificates until summer of 2023

The European Commission (EC) will approve a project to extend the use of the European digital COVID certificate until July next year.

Report informs, citing TASS, that the European Commission may approve the initiative this week. The COVID pass was put in use in the European Union in July 2021, with a validity period limited to one year. Now the European authorities consider it necessary to extend its use for another 12 months, as they believe that the digital certificate remains a valuable tool for the community member states against the backdrop of the epidemiological situation.

The EU Green Digital Pass was put into effect on July 1, 2021. It contains three types of information - data on vaccination, past illness, after which a person can move freely around the European Union for 180 days, and a negative PCR test, which gives 72 hours for travel.
