Czech Republic, Italy agree to expand the oil pipeline

The Czech oil company Mero and the Italian concern TAL have signed a deal to expand the transalpine oil pipeline. From 2025, this oil pipeline will be used instead of the Russian Druzhba pipeline, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala wrote on his Twitter page, Report informs.

“The increase in capacity of TAL oil pipeline will make it possible to increase the supply of oil to the Czech Republic by up to 4 million tons per year from reliable suppliers from 2025, which will fully cover our consumption.

This is a significant milestone for our energy independence from Russia, as we will get rid of our dependence on Russian oil,” he tweeted.

According to the Czech News Agency, the volume of deliveries through this pipeline will amount to 8 million tons per year. The value of the transaction amounted to 1.6 billion crowns ($72.780 million). The Czech company Mero will cover the costs.
