Former Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont has turned himself in to Belgian justice authorities after Spain issued a new warrant for his arrest following the sentencing of 12 of his former colleagues, Report informs citing Interfax.
The politician was taken to court. He reminded the court that he enjoys immunity as an MEP.
A court in Belgium decided not to arrest Puigdemont before deciding whether to extradite him to Spain.
