Alexander Schallenberg has taken over chancellorship in Austria.

According to TASS, Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen swore him in, with the ceremony held on October 11.

Former Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg is said to be a representative of the conservative Austrian People's Party.

Meanwhile, Michael Linhart has been appointed the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria. He has served as Austria's ambassador to France since 2019 and was recalled by President Van der Bellen.

Schallenberg was born on June 20, 1969, in Bern, Switzerland, to the family of the noble Austrian diplomat Wolfgang Schallenberg. Alexander Schallenberg lived with his father, who was on a business trip to India, Spain, and France. He studied at the universities of Vienna and Paris. In 1997, he joined the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
