The summit of the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council - Russia, the United States, France, the UK, and China could help mend the recently strained relations between the leading powers, Report informs, quoting UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who spoke in an interview with TASS.
"I think the relationship between the world's leading powers was useless. These relations must work better, so everyone will benefit from them. Therefore, we have positive expectations for the initiative to hold a summit of permanent members," he noted.
At the same time, the UN chief stressed that the division between the superpowers increases the influence of centrifugal forces, which leads to disruption of peace in various regions.
