The OSCE Minsk Group did nothing to ensure that historical justice prevails, Russian political scientist, journalist, TV anchor and public figure Maxim Shevchenko told the Russian bureau of Report.
He was commenting on the trilateral meeting of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia held in Minsk.
“It’s better to speak than to fight. I always have a positive attitude towards such meetings, especially since they were held in Minsk. We know that so far, the OSCE Minsk Group has done nothing to ensure that historical justice prevails. Evaluation of this organization’s work given by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is absolutely precise. Perhaps the time has come in Minsk to launch some new initiative of the future,” Shevchenko said.
According to the expert, the parties need to establish a dialogue and improve relations: “I know that the peoples of Azerbaijan and Armenia are advocating for peace. Azerbaijan has made its steps towards peace, the establishment of normal borders, economic relations, transport corridors. Now it is Armenia’s turn.”
Shevchenko noted that there are great prospects for the further continuation of the dialogue: “Russia’s participation in the negotiations gives hope for the possibility of dialogue. After all, Russia is a proven friend of Azerbaijan. President Putin always keeps his word.”
