Emin Huseynov: Being certain of accuracy of mine maps is dangerous

"It is also dangerous to be absolutely sure of the accuracy of the maps provided. Aghdam has been liberated for a year, but we recently managed to build a power line. This was because the area we called the former line of contact was full of unexploded ordnance, anti-personnel and anti-tank mines. In a 5-kilometer-wide strip, mines were almost unloaded from a truck. That is, it is tough to clean the area," Emin Huseynov, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the liberated territories of the Karabakh economic region (except Shusha), said in response to a question about Armenia's incomplete submission of mine maps, which hindered the recent construction work.

"Moreover, those areas are not smooth. Many defensive fortifications have been built. Therefore, the use of special anti-mine vehicles has become very difficult. It is challenging to search with vehicles and dogs. These areas are mostly cleared manually, i.e., by hand. Finally, a 20-meter-wide corridor was recently opened on the former contact line, and as a result, Azerenergy CJSC was able to lay a power line from the village of Hindiristan to the Aghdam-1 substation: "The city already has electricity. But the danger remains," Huseynov noted.
