The opening of economic and transport links between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the creation of new infrastructure routes meet the interests of all countries in the region, Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev said at a meeting of the Azerbaijan-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in Baku today, Report informs.
Mustafayev stressed that the implementation of the agreements arising from the trilateral statement signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Russia, and Armenia opens up good prospects.
He spoke about the work to improve the transport infrastructure between Azerbaijan and Russia.
"Shirvanli-Novafilya border checkpoint, one of the border checkpoints between Azerbaijan and Russia, will be open 24 hours a day from March 28. Completion of repair and expansion of Samur-Yarat border checkpoint will give additional impetus to increase our trade turnover," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
According to him, the statistics of the past years show an increase in both bilateral and transit cargo transportation: "At the same time, there is a deficit in the issuance of permits for Azerbaijani carriers from third countries or countries."
