Laura Parras: Climate challenges raise demands on professionals

Strengthening technical and institutional capacity is a key requirement in developing new urban planning codes, stated Laura Parras, a staff member of the Federation of Engineers and Architects of Costa Rica (Colegio Federado de Ingenieros y de Arquitectos de Costa Rica - CFIA), at an event within the framework of WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.

She said that integrating modern approaches related to climate change, adaptation, and sustainable development into the regulatory system automatically raises the qualification requirements for specialists.

"We are not only developing a new code, but simultaneously need to focus on workforce training, updating methodologies, and strengthening the institutional capacity of municipalities. It is also important to enhance the capabilities of technical teams working alongside governing bodies across various sectors," she stated.
