Azerbaijan needs additional 50 passenger trains, nearly 4,000 cargo trains, Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways Javid Gurbanov said in AZTV, Report informs.
"There were nearly 21,000 wagons in the park four years ago. Service life of these wagons is about 20-30 years. Had we stored these wagons, we would have had only 250 wagons by the end of this year," Gurbanov said.
According to him, 3,100 cargo trains have been purchased: "Then we bought 7 trains containing 4 wagons from Stadler company, two more trains will be purchased this year. Moreover, we’ll order 3 trains. 12 more trains are planned to be bought. We need additional 50 passenger trains and nearly 4,000 cargo trains," the chairman said.
