Forty countries around the world have so far joined the Baku Hub established within the framework of COP29, Elshad Iskandarov, Ambassador-at-Large of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, said during the panel session "Peace-Positive Climate Action through Urban Solutions in Fragile and Conflict-Affected Areas" within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
"The Baku Hub has brought together the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Egypt, Uganda, and the United Arab Emirates as co-leaders of this initiative. Three hundred peacebuilding organizations, 40 states, as well as dozens of UN institutions, multilateral development banks, and climate funds have joined the platform. Exclusively thanks to negotiations held through the Baku Hub platform, it was possible to secure a $100 million grant for Somalia from the Green Climate Fund - the first such case in history," Iskandarov emphasized.
