Azerbaijan reveals measures to protect water resources countrywide

The Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency has prioritized the development of new and alternative water sources, Ulviyya Mammadova, the deputy chief of staff of the agency said at the event titled “The Role of Water Management Systems in Climate-Resilient Agriculture: COP29 Roundtable Discussions,” Report informs.

According to Mammadova, this includes studying the effective use of seawater, treated wastewater, collector-drainage water, and rainwater. Additionally, the agency is implementing physical infrastructure projects to protect water resources, such as constructing new reservoirs and reconstructing irrigation canals.

“However, the measures do not end there. The renovation and construction projects should also support policies that promote water-saving habits and sustainable water management,” Mammadova stated.
