Azerbaijan records increase in int’l cargo traffic by sea

More than 1.908 million tons of cargo worth over $1.605 billion were transported in Azerbaijan by sea in the first eight months of 2024, Report informs, citing the country’s State Customs Committee.
Compared to the corresponding period in 2023, this represents a 27.4% rise in value and a 5.1% increase in volume.
During this period, sea exports amounted to 61,600 tons, a 17.9% increase year-on-year (YoY). However, the value of the exports dropped by 32.4% YoY, totaling $77.5 million.
On the import side, approximately 1.847 million tons of goods were transported by sea, reflecting a 4.7% increase in volume. The value of these imports surged by 33.4%, reaching just under $1.528 billion.
