Agency: Water supply improved for over 150,000 hectares in Karabakh and surrounding regions

The Sugovushan reservoir and the 5.2 km long main canal located in the Tartar district have been restored, Ilham Guliyev, an official of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency (ADSEA), told journalists, Report informs.

According to Guliyev, the total water capacity of the reservoir is 5.86 million cubic meters, and the total water discharge capacity of the main canal is 70 cubic meters per second: "As a result, water supply to about 96,000 hectares of agricultural land in the Tartar, Goranboy, Barda, Yevlakh, Aghdam and Aghjabadi districts has been improved."

Guliyev said that the Tartarchay left bank main irrigation canal has been reconstructed: "The canal is 20 km long and has a discharge capacity of 21 cubic meters per second. With its commissioning, water supply to about 30,000 hectares of land in the Tartar, Barda, Goranboy and Yevlakh districts has been improved."

He added that the Khachinchay reservoir and the 7 km long canal have been fully restored: "The volume of the reservoir is 23 million cubic meters, and the canal's water discharge capacity is 4 cubic meters per second. As a result of the project, water supply to 7,000 hectares of the Aghdam district has been improved."

Guliyev said that the Kondalanchay-1, Kondalanchay-2 and Ashagi Kondalanchay reservoirs (total volume: 15.5 million cubic meters) have been restored: "Thus, irrigation provision has been improved in 6,200 hectares of the Fuzuli district."

He also noted that as a result of the construction of the Zabukhchay reservoir and a 51.6 km main pipeline, water supply has been ensured for 12,100 hectares in the Gubadli and Zangilan districts.
