An unpleasant incident occurred during the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Report informs that the crane of the evacuation car, carrying the car of Williams’ pilot George Russell, clung to the underground pedestrian crossing. As a result, the crossing was damaged. The crane broke and the oil flowing from it spilled over the car. The second evacuation truck arrived at the scene. In the end, it was possible to bring Russell's car to the pit box.
The International Automobile Federation decided to check all drains on the Baku track. The reason is that George Russell's car clung to the drain and was damaged. It was reported that there are more than 300 drains along the truck.
The racing was suspended.
