Overall budget for Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics cut by 11 bln USD

Baku. 22 November. REPORT.AZ/ The Olympics Organizing Committee is aiming to settle its overall budget for Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics at around 2 trillion yen (18,2 bln USD)

Report informs, Kyodo agency quoted citing the Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games.

It was noted that, new estimate of costs in Japan on November 29, with the participation of International Olympic Committee and senior officials of the central government in Tokyo and Japan.

Before the budget, 2020 Olympic Games estimated at 3 trillion yen (29.5 bln USD).

However, this amount was subject to criticism from the IOC and Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike.

As a result, the project cost was subject to reduction.
