Ironman athlete dies after race

A triathlon athlete died today as they took part in an event in the Midlands. The competitor was ill during the triathlon at Ironman 70.3 Staffordshire.

Report informs, citing foreign media, that Ironman England announced the devastating news on its Facebook page following the race today, Sunday, June 12. It said the athlete needed immediate medical attention during the swim portion of the race.

They were treated by an on-site medical team and rushed to hospital. But the athlete later died despite the best efforts of medics to save them.
