Baku hosts opening ceremony of World Cup in Artistic Gymnastics

The opening ceremony of the World Cup in Artistic Gymnastics took place in Baku.

According to Report, the event at the National Gymnastics Arena was attended by officials from the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF), the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and representatives from the participating countries.

The ceremony began with the presentation of the flags of the countries taking part. Azerbaijani Minister of Youth and Sports, Farid Gayibov, delivered a speech in which he highlighted several achievements in sports and gymnastics. He thanked the organizers and wished the participants the best of luck.

After the Azerbaijani National Anthem, dance groups performed their routines.

Azerbaijan's athletes competing in the World Cup include Nikita Simonov (rings), Ivan Tikhonov (horizontal bar), Rasul Ahmadzada (floor exercise, pommel horse), Mansum Safarov (vault, horizontal bar), Murad Agharzayev (floor exercise), Ramin Damirov (parallel bars), Nazanin Teymurova (all six apparatus), and Deniz Aliyeva (all six apparatus).

At the end of the competition, gymnasts with the highest execution scores will be awarded the traditional AGF Trophy cup.

The World Cup, featuring athletes from 19 countries, will run until March 9.
