2 Azerbaijani wrestlers become world champions in Italy

Azerbaijani freestyle wrestlers, Vasif Baghirov and Ilyas Isayev, won gold medals at the U-17 World Wrestling Championship in Rome, Italy, Report informs.

Azerbaijani athlete Vasif Baghirov (48 kg) defeated Ramil Rassim (11:0) from Kazakhstan and Kumar Lalit (7:4) from India and advanced to the finals. Vasif, who beat the American wrestler 5:3 in the decisive match, became the world champion.

In the meantime, Ilyas Isayev (65 kg) defeated Iran's Mahammad Mamivand (3:0), Turkmenistan's Alp Arslan Begenyov (5:2), Kazakhstan's Aikin Bolatuli (8:4) and Georgia's Goga Otunashvili (8:4) and qualified for the finals. Ilyas won the decisive match against the American wrestler Tyler Kasaka with a score of 5:3 and became the world champion.
