Azerbaijan detains 17 foreigners for border violations in August

In August 2025, Azerbaijan detained 29 individuals for violating the state border, the State Border Service (SBS) told Report.
Among those apprehended were 12 Azerbaijani citizens, along with 17 foreign nationals: 4 from Iran, 3 from Bangladesh, 3 from Pakistan, 2 from Georgia, and one each from the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Türkiye.
As part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal migration, 17 individuals were specifically detained for attempting to cross the border using forged date stamps, falsified passports, or documents belonging to other people.
