AZAL aircraft crash victims commemorated in Aktau

On February 7, a memorial ceremony was held in Aktau for those who died in the Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash that occurred on December 25, 2024.

According to Report, the event was organized by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Kazakhstan and the Akimat of Mangistau region.

The memorial ceremony was attended by Mangistau region Akim (Governor) Nurdaulet Kilybay, Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Alim Bayel, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Kazakhstan Aghalar Atamoghlanov, Azerbaijan's Consul General in Aktau Aykhan Suleymanly, and others.

Verses from the Quran were recited. Nurdaulet Kilybay expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and noted that on the instructions of Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, a government commission was established to determine the causes of the plane crash and provide assistance to the victims.

The akim of the Mangistau region once again expressed gratitude to rescuers, medical workers, and all caring Kazakhstan citizens.

Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Alim Bayel emphasized that today the relations between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have acquired a truly allied character. He noted that being located on the eastern and western shores of the Caspian Sea, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are important players in regional politics and key links in the Eurasian transport and logistics architecture.

During the event, the families of deceased Kazakhstanis were given keys to five apartments in a new residential complex in Almaty.

In this context, he noted that the Kazakh side gratefully accepted the offer of Azerbaijani businessman Amil Yusifov to provide assistance to the families of those who died in the plane crash.

The businessman emphasized that he successfully conducts business in Kazakhstan and considers it his duty to support the brotherly nation. During the event, Amil Yusifov presented the relatives of the deceased Kazakhstanis with keys to five two-room apartments in a new residential complex in Almaty. The apartments are furnished and equipped with household appliances.

Additionally, the philanthropist also donated three new vehicles to the Department of Emergency Situations of Mangistau region, the hospital, and the ambulance station of Aktau city.

The regional akim Kilybay also expressed gratitude on behalf of the Mangistau region's public and emphasized that the event became another example of Kazakh-Azerbaijani friendship.
