WHO reveals most infectious COVID strain

The delta variant of COVID is the most contagious among the identified strains of coronavirus and is spreading rapidly among the unvaccinated population, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at a briefing in Geneva, Report informs.
“The delta variant is the most contagious of all COVID strains identified. It has been found in 85 countries and is spreading rapidly among the unvaccinated population,” he said.
He added that the WHO is observing an increase in COVID infection cases worldwide, which may lead to an increase in mortality. More new cases mean more hospitalizations and further stress on health systems and healthcare workers, increasing the risk of death.
