The delta strain may soon become the dominant COVID-19 variant globally, the head of the technical group of the WHO Emergency Diseases Unit, Maria Van Kerkhove, said. Report informs, citing RIA Novosti, that Kerkhove spoke at a briefing on Monday.
"The delta variant has now been identified in more than 140 countries around the world. And we know that it is highly contagious, even more than other variants of concern. We expect it to become the dominant strain that spreads throughout the world if it hasn't already," she said.
